AppleTV, iPhone, Job’s Keynote 2007
Posted on January 1, 2007The Apple iPhone is here. I am not sure how they got the name from Cisco or why they are doing so much in a phone. I can’t see it replacing my blackberry – I just love the keyboard, tactile feel, ability to type without looking as I am typing this. But for weekend phoning, it will replace my sony (I use my Blackberry only for work) and I’ll use it for music and pictures. I hope they come out with a new video iPod that uses this same technology and is hard-drive based, then I’ll replace my ancient iPod still using my iPod Nano for working out.
The BIG DEAL is that this thing runs Mac OSX. That it provides a new user interface for the iPod, That its touch screen interface will allow for:
A Tablet Mac – why not? – the way you move through pictures, albums, email and web pages is amazing. Like flipping through cd or album covers, like turning pages in a photo album or magazine. A MacBook that is all screen would be amazing.
And an iPod Video with a big hard drive that can store a lot of movies even better. Sure, this thing connects via WiFi so I imagine it will work with the AppleTV and a Mac but the point is taking it on an airplane. I don’t know what is next, Apple will not introduce a new iPod until June so the millions of new iPod users won’t feel like crap for buying them for the holidays. This will be a great year. Glad I held most of my Apple Stock, its up 8+% so far today.
Oh, and Apple Computer, Inc. is now Apple, Inc.

[...] We were all expecting to see Mac OS 10.5 Leopard As silvermac.com points out in the many predictions they have for the WWDC07. I dig most of them; expecting the iPod to come out with those new iPhone features. But I also agree with Scruggs’s comment – the big deal is touch Screen Macs a I blubbered about after Job’s keynote at Macworld this year. The buzz is all about the big screen though – Jeff Han an engineer at NYU creates really cool stuff. BIG. I guess we will have to wait: Apple Statement: iPhone has already passed several of its required certification tests and is on schedule to ship in late June as planned. We can’t wait until customers get their hands (and fingers) on it and experience what a revolutionary and magical product it is. However, iPhone contains the most sophisticated software ever shipped on a mobile device, and finishing it on time has not come without a price — we had to borrow some key software engineering and QA resources from our Mac OS X team, and as a result we will not be able to release Leopard at our Worldwide Developers Conference in early June as planned. While Leopard’s features will be complete by then, we cannot deliver the quality release that we and our customers expect from us. We now plan to show our developers a near final version of Leopard at the conference, give them a beta copy to take home so they can do their final testing, and ship Leopard in October.
