Rest

Thursday, August 18th, 2005

Took day off.
Unbelievably tired – 3 hours of sleep last night due to restlessness and movies. I’m broken up over this decision.
Going to fall asleep at 6 tonight…

Scouts, Life, The Garage

Wednesday, August 17th, 2005

Finally got started with scouts today.
I put together a few pages to help parents and kids have a good time this year. I think it is going to be a good year.
Its been an interesting week. Or two weeks. I’m coming to a decision soon about a very important part of my life. More on that later…
My visit to the Dr. Monday was great – he said my knee is healing fine and to exercise/run as I feel comfortable. So I’ll stick to the plan. I ran 15 minutes to warm up with Maia today, it feels so good to have here there; I hope I don’t “coach” her too much; but she is my most coachable child.
Time to finish the garage – get some new Mills Pride cabinets and a work bench put in. I expect to be able to complete that tomorrow.
I wish I could sleep.

One true thing

Wednesday, August 17th, 2005

Evil is bad – and you know it when you see it.

I tell my kids to “look for good” and the love comes through. That’s from Dennis Waitley – a paraphrase from one of his tapes I listened to as a young adult. It struck me then and stuck with me always. A friend has on her wall “just be nice” so true.

My point is, the only thing that matters about God is that you find him/her in good. And you don’t find him in evil, hate, bad things. There is never a reason to be evil in the name of God so I just don’t get all those religions that justify murder, hate and intollerance as a means to an end. You will never sell me on it, I will never believe you.

Run

Monday, August 15th, 2005

Did a run today; got my signals crossed from the chart and ran hard instead. Planning on taking tomorrow off and then doing the 45 minute LSD the next day.

25 minutes Hard.

Woke up tired, stayed up late last night; HR is at 71, not sleeping enough. Will rest better tonight.
Dr appt tomorrow.

Jog

Sunday, August 14th, 2005

I gave it a good Jog today; stretched a lot after; felt pretty good
20 minute Jog

Running Plan

Saturday, August 13th, 2005

Plan is to ramp up slow from the Arthroscopic Surgery on my left knee.
I’m starting late. I think the wound in my knee is healing slower then the underlying
cartilage.
I can bend full range but it sort of rolls or clicks past the last bit of bend.
The front feels like an old fashion "indian burn" pulling the skin.
I may have scar tissue, I also think the right hole got a bit infected.

Here is what I’m planning:

4 Week Ramp Up
Week 1 2 3 4
Sun. 20 Min Jog 60 Minutes LSD 6 Miles LSD 6 Miles LSD
Mon. 25 Min Run 25 Min Run 25 Min Run 3 Mile Tempo
Tue. Rest Rest 20 Min Jog 3 Mile Tempo
Wed. 45 Min LSD 20 Min Jog 20 Min Jog 4 Mile Jog
Thu. 20 Min Jog 25 Min Run 25 Min Tempo 3 Mile Tempo
Fri. 25 Min Run 20 Min Jog 30 Min Jog 4 mile Jog
Sat. 20 Min Run 30 Min Tempo Run 30 Min Tempo 3 Mile Jog
Total Miles ~17 ~21 ~23 26

Second Day

Saturday, August 13th, 2005

25 minutes at 8:00AM – no distance recorded.
Stretched it out as much as possible. Felt tight on hills and wind is weak.
This will take a while.

First Day Back

Friday, August 12th, 2005

Finally I got out there and Ran – in Gulfport Mid-day of all times.

20 minutes approximately 2 miles.
Felt stiff first mile, stretched out the second mile.

“Yea, Yea, Yea, Yea”

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005

I find this expression completely irritating. I’m noticing it with women trying to convey complete and superior understanding. In other words, you make a statement about something important and before you finish a sentence they cut you off with it. The key is a tone of sweetness somewhat false but designed to comfort you and allow the interruption. Its a nice way to tell you to “shut up, I get it”; the problem is they usually don’t but then again they don’t care that they don’t or much about you. I am trying to figure the male equivalant – but then again, males pretty much invented the act of cutting off in mid conversation – they just start talking over one-another. We just don’t bother with all the foo foo condencention.
