My latest metaphore for life right now

Life is constantly changing and so demanding these days that I have no real control. Its like a lawn mower that is just a little to powerful, doing its job but you are only barely controlling it as you whip around the turns, sometimes leaving a strip of grass uncut and sometimes wastefully retracing your steps. I could try and slow it down but then I may not finish. I could push harder but it would only get less and less productive. So are the demands I have put upon myself as breadwinner, husband, father and man. So is the career path I have chosen, to late to change, to soon to give up. I walk the line.

Nike Triax Elite 2.0.4 under Mac OSX Tiger 10.4

TO update my Main Post on the Triax: I am noticing a lot of questions about the Nike Triax Elite software running under Mac OSX 10.4 Tiger

Here are some notes on the installation:
1. If you are upgrading, backup the whole Triax Elite folder somewhere on your mac (just copy it over or onto your desktop, don’t move it).
2. run the OSX installation program, make sure you have the latest 2.0.4 version; call Nike support and they will send you a new CD or get it on the Nike Extranet
3. After install, it will reboot your mac, go ahead.
4. It will probably tell you the settings on the FTDIReEnumerate folder in
startup items are incorrect, let Mac OSX fix them and restart again. That’s
the USB driver
5. plug in the USB transmitter/receiver and then start the application for
the first time.
6. if your history isn’t there you can copy over those folders in the backed
up directory.

The way to tell if you have 2.0.4 is to “get info” on the application file in Finder to check version. Also, I believe 2.04 has a grey background on the screen; but I cannot believe these guys didn’t put an “about” menu item under help; heck they don’t even take advantage of the cocoa interface standard tools.

There are a couple of posts on the yahoo
news group about this
….

Some comments to consider from other members:
————————
the “read me” file says you must plug the USB
dongle device in BEFORE you
start the program for the first time. I shut down the program, made sure
the USB device was attached, re-started the program
————————-
From Chris Woods I did get it to work. Here are the steps I used:

1. Unplug and replug the USB transmitter/receiver.
2. Start the Triax software.
3. Click the Sync button.
4. Click OK when prompted to put the watch into PC mode.
5. Put the watch into PC mode and set it next to the transmitter/receiver.

Everything transferred OK.”
——————————-
Success! Strangely, the first time I launched today, there were no buttons to sync or set the watch. However, the second time there was. Followed your directions and ploof…
I’m back in business. Maybe 10.4.1 is the fix. Thanks.

Math Forum - Dr. Math gives a great explanation on Lattice Mulitplication. I had never heard of this ’till my son Daniel came to me for help with his homework. He is enjoying math and I really like it when we get to learn new things like this together

8/21/05 Intervals (Running Log)

I set out to calibrate my replacement Nike Triax watch and ended up feeling so good I ran 400’s. Well, I think they were 400’s - this is an old track; need to find a new HS that will let me calibrate my watch and run.
I ran one lap on the track and my offset is 1081; I’m 5′6″ and I ran about a 8:41 pace to calibrate it. Daniel ran it with me and then we ran another lap to warm up.
I ran 4 400’s at an average pace 6′30″ - I had the auto lap on so I didn’t get accurate lap times. I ran 400’s inbetween as well. Total of about 3 miles for the day.

The Life of the Flemings- New Web Site
http://krisandmark.com/news/wp-trackback.php/3

Mark has built a nice website; with Wordpress as his primary engine. I’m also learning PHP to try and rebuild my primary to be integrated with my blog; should be more interesting. I can integrate my running log and other reviews and stuff.

Good Job Mark.

Mills Pride in the Garrage

I got my new watch - replaced the lost Triax Elite - good price at Watchzworld
for $259.00
. Timed run tomorrow.

Today was a good day - birthday parties all around, got the cabinates installed - put in Mills Pride basic installation but am waiting on the last base unit - it has the hardware missing - called the 800 number and they said a few days. BTW, there was a rebate - the slip incorrectly stated to purchase two U2 30" base units - those are actually U4.

25 minute run up to Tilly Mill and back. Felt a little tight/or something in my knee at first; though the out is mostly up hill. Resting BP HR was 118/78 61
Best Yet! I would imagine the 12 hours of sleep helped.
