My father’s uncle - the other Charanis who’s daughter and son are both teachers now. He loved Greece and taught with passion. I wish I had met him. Dad and his Brother looked up to him.

UPDATE: New Web Hosting Company SLAM Premier Internet Services

Remember this post:

I rant - New Web Hosting Company about Webhosting

Just an update - i’m going to name names now. I had charanis.com hosted with Premeir Domain or now called Premier Internet Services for like 9 years. Unbelieveable how a company can “NOT” grow. I stuck with them partly because I was lazy and partly because I figured they needed my business and they hadn’t dissapointed me. Over the past year services started to go down hill. They had several hard crashes and after I brought up my business site and then shifted things around they couldnt’ keep up.
Billing was missed, re-directs charged for when not to be charged for. Today they charge twice as much per month as most other services and still have shabby service.
In the end I had inquired to see where my contract stood - I had prepaid in the past, changed services for credit and then lost track myself. So I’m the customer - they are the business, right? Iasked when the time was to renew - they said they woudl get back to me. A month later they did after several more emails.
YOU OWE US like $900 but we will give you a deal. And they did - they threatened to send me to a collection agency and then I finally paid. Don’t worry, I paid a lot less and immediately switched.
They offer: 500 MB Web Space, 10 GB Traffic
10 Mysql Databases, 50 Email Accounts, 25 FTP Accounts, SSH Access, 2 Domains and Money Back Guarantee - yea right….
all for only $25/month That is a crappy price and deal

So HostGator gives me:
2GB
20GB Bandwidth
Unlimited domains, mail, ftp, SQL, etc…
for $10/month!

I just don’t understand how they can throw 9 years away. They got shitty and I got busy - switched in a day. I’m done.

Robots - loaded up on popcorn

Took the family to see Robots and it was a very cool movie. Amazing animation. A completely unique world thought the story isn’t that unique. As parents you find yourself amused by the voices of old “friends” like Mel Brooks and Robin Williams and amazed by the difference between this and the cartoons of our childhood. The kids had fun - laughed most of the way, and ‘got’ most of the jokes.

We got the TUB of popcorn and they even refilled it free. I’m way over my salt limit - need to drink a lot of water to try my run tomorrow.

Here I am stalling - I’m supposed to run my test 10K today so see where I am after taking 5 months off. I’m guessing it will be pathetic. It’s noon, time for lunch. I need to run instead. Here I go.

JumpStart - Kindergarten

JumpStart

Sophie is finally getting on the Mac and learning mouse skills. She is a lefty so we have to move everything to the left. I highly reccommend doing that and not forcing your lefties to work with the right hand.

She is enjoying this program, starts K at Davis next year.

Daniel is playing Sponge Bob Typing from the same learning company.

Now Maia is playing Jumpstart 4th Grade but I’m dissapointed to see it is a Mac Classic appl. - OS 9.2

Friday Night

I’m afraid I’m going to be pathetic for this Blog marathon. I didn’t think about it being a Friday night and Saturday - Just got back from Synagogue and really shouldn’t be on the net. So I’ll have to make this spiritual. Today’s torah portion was about the time when the Jews left Egypt and got many of the commandments and laws of our faith. Stuff like keeping kosher and not worshiping false idols. Back then there were a lot of pagan types - worshiping rocks and the sun and cats and women etc. Well - to “distinguish” themselves from these confused masses God gave them ways to focus on him as the one and only one true God. I sometimes think of it as a pebble in my shoe - sometimes a rock. I don’t keep kosher but we don’t bring pork into the house. Sometimes seafood but uncomfortably. On the high holidays I do keep kosher - and at Passover I observe full kosher rules. Its a rock in my shoe - to know I am different. There is only one God, not dozens, not even the three that my Christian friends believe in. That is what I believe, its what I’m happy with.
